Scammer posing as W7DZD

Post by paul_n5ps@yahoo.com »

This scammer is posing as Darrell Zielke, W7DZD, attempting to sell a Yaesu FT-818, a LDG Z-817 tuner and an Inrad 2.9khz SSB filter. The real W7DZD lives in WA and let his license expire last year. The IP for the scammer shows up as London, England. I looked up the phone number for W7DZD and called him. He assured me that he did not have any ham equipment for sell on QTH. He was also shocked that anyone would try to impersonate him in this way.

I also noted this, i had entered into an agreement and sent funds on this also. Luckily i resisted the requests for friends and family and got my money back already on paypal goods and services.

There are a couple of details for everyone here.
He initially asked for payment to his "wife's" paypal which was Audrey Autrey and then to his step-son's account which was Christian Mann, with an Austrian email address. There were several requests for friends and family payments which i refused to do.
The telephone number which he was communicating on was (314)529-0234.
When he shipped he used the following: Easy Kargo, and provided a URL, and a tracking number. I tapped the tracking number on my iphone and it came up as a canada post tracking number and not showing any items, when i went to the url provided by him for easy kargo and entered the tracking number it came up addressed from him to me and had the items "shipped" listed along with normal info like package weight and size etc. But the day after the website shows "account suspended".
I am not out anything but beware all. This was a pretty frustrating thing overall and luckily i kept my head on my shoulders and was not out any money at all thankfully.

Now with that said, when i spoke with "Darrell" by telephone he did have an accent which from experience sounded German/Austrian/Swiss. It is probably the Christian Mann character with the Austrian email address. Luckily i dont know where to find him or he would be getting a cardiectomy with a rusty spoon. When it came down to it i was laying in bed the other night tossing and turning, i normally sleep like a deadman. My gut told me something was wrong and boy was it ever.
