Need Back Light Info for FT-211RH

Post by w0bkr »

I am trying to find out what back light bulb (if there is one) is used in the FT-211RH VHF Mobile radio.
I don't see it called out in the service manual (could have missed it) and any help would be appreciated.

find the bulb location. measure the voltage.
get a LED and resistor to make the voltage work on LED.. use a 5 K pot to
adjust to the right brightness of the LED. the put a fixed resistor on the lead.
if the LED spot is not angled correct, rough up the surface slightly with fine sandpaper
to get some dispersement of light.

Easily said. Like I asked, I don't even know "IF" there is a back lite for the display as I cannot locate it and the service manual makes no mention of it....trying to determine if it is an integral part of the display...if it had an external bulb, that I could see or locate, I would have it by now...unfortunately, I think it is part of the display unit...
