Just what it says -- this is the place for any discussions not related to Buying, Selling and Trading ham gear. The discussion must be related to Ham Radio.

Hallicrafters SX-43 Tuning Meter

Post by Goldilox »

 Hi, I have a couple of technical questions regarding the Hallicrafters SX-43.
#1 I just bought this radio off of EBAY, & was wondering why I just get loud Hum through the headphones? I trieda "New" rectifier tube(5Y3GT), with no difference. Could it be the 3 capacitors in the metal can mounted to the Chassis? Radio is pretty well original (No Caps replaced), all I did wasreplace some burnt resistors.

#2 The carrier level meter needle is far over to the right side of scale, Should it not be on the left? Its not pinned hard to the right, & I do get a tiny bit of movement out of it .

Any assistance you could give, would be greatly appreciated.
