Hello everyone, and thanks for the time to read this. I have a FTDX3000 and a MFJ-998 tuner, when I press the tune button on the radio it will not key, there's no tuning at all. I can put another tuner, A MFJ-993B in line and everything works fine. MFJ sent another tuner and cable and the same thing. This is strange!. I talked with YAESU also to no avail. It sounds to me like a FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE between radio & tuner.Note there are 3 DIFFERENT Yaesu cables for the MFJ 998,925,28,&29 units MFJ 5114Y most common The 5114Y3 1000MP & 9000 & 5114Y4 For the 2000 & 5000 Models.Don't know what difference is,Plugs ,pinout or both.I'd check cable for part # lable

I was looking for some info on using a MFJ-998 with my FTdx-3000 and was wondering what you finally figured out with your issue? I just received the MFJ-5114Y3 cable and so far I have not been able to get the 998 to talk to the 3000.

As I explained to Steve N4GAB You must use MFJ-5114Y NOT Y3 or Y4 as it is equipted with a DIN plug that plugs into tuner jack @ back side of radio.See radio @ RigPIX , Also check mfg 2017 Catalog info not furnished 2016 edition.
