BEWARE HIJACKED CALL VE3MPQ

For reports of scammers using other people's callsigns. Remember that any callsigns listed in this forum are likely innocent bystanders (subjects of identity theft) and, thus, are probably not guilty of anything. For bad transactions with verified ham operators, use the Feedback Forum instead.

Just received a response to my "WANTED" ad on QTH.com. The person claimed to VE3MPQ.
The response is:
hello
i have this items for sales, if still interested in buying I will email you some photos and details

I responded to the email but not to the address that was sent instead used the email listed on the QRZ bio page for VE3MPQ and received this response.
"Sorry someone has been hacking my call no Jupiter for sale here-ve3mpq"

Another tool to use in checking the buyer/seller is this site...(if you know the IP address which is shown on a QTH.com response)

It shows the IP address 198.44.136.183 to be in New York City and not in Canada.

They're coming out of the woodwork like termites on a warm spring day.
