THIS IS AN UPDATE TO A SCAMMER BRUCE ATKINS. HE IS NOW POSING AS FRED THOMPSON USING A PHONE NUMBER: 850-757-0016 WHEN HE TEXTS YOU. HIS SCAM NOW IS HE SENDS YOU A CASHIER'S CHECK FOR $1,980.16 FOR AN ITEM(S) YOU POSTED FOR SALE AND THEN ADDS THERE ARE OTHER FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS TO SATISFY (GOOD WAY FOR ONE TO ACCESS ALL YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION) THE LATEST SCAM IS A CASHIER'S CHECK FROM A GIRL'S NAME WHO IS THE REMITTER AND THE CASHIER'S CHECK COMES FROM AN INSURANCE COMPANY IN A 2 DAY USPS ENVELOPE. I CALLED THAT INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY VERIFIED IT WAS NOT ISSUED BY THEM AND THE REMITTER WAS FAKE AND THE SIGNATURE ON THE CHECK WAS NOT CLEARLY LEGIBLE OR SIGNED BY A REPRESENATIVE OF THAT INSURANCE COMPANY. THEN HE TEXTS YOU TO SEE IF YOU GOT THE CHECK IN THE MAILBOX AND CASHED IT. THIS GUY IS POSING AS SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE ON THE QTH SITE SO BEWARE OF WHO YOUR DEALING WITH.

Yep. I had a similar experience with same person. He wanted me to calculate shipping to a zip code in NYC but would not give me an address.

I told him $110 would cover the item and shipping... he sent me a cashiers check with some extra funds. The check was for $980 and was sent from an insurance company in Beloit, WI. Being suspicious, I called them and they said it was a scam and I should destroy the check which I did. There was a slip of paper that said I shoult text them when I deposited the check. The number was 850 757-0016 which is in Florida.

Now this scammer is going by Lee Godfrey and Lee Richard GTF234.
I just received a check from him for $1600 for an amp that I never agreed to a price as I suspected it being a scam.
The check is sent from an insurance company out of Colorado with a remitter named Marshall V Martinez.
In the priority mail envelope was a note to text 850-757-0016 to authorize payment.
I found this post by searching that number.
He claims his shipping address is 887 Milwaukee Rd Beloit Wi 83511.

Yep, same scam.
