Kenwood automatic antenna tuner

auto antenna tuner operation. After the "tuning finished TX ready" is shown should the auto thru switch be turned off or kept in the on position? By turning the switch off does it place the antenna back to the old untuned antenna? I believe the switch be in the on (depressed) position to keep obtaining the benefit of a proper matched antenna. Which way should it be operated. After tuning...switch depressed (on) or off?
