Post by largeh »

Hello,
If any one out there has wired a henery 2kd5 with the 4 conductor wire(black, white, red and green) for 220v I need to know how this is done on the plug end. I have 220 run into the shack but have always just used the black.white and green). Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated

Since 1996 NEC has required washers, dryers , ranges to have the ground seperate from the neutral.

Befor that the neutral could be tied direct to the frame .

So now you would need a 4 wire plug for dryer or range.
These devices haves some neutral current as the lights, timer etc are likely to be 120 volt.
maybe change for change sake.

I suppose you can get away with tieing the bare(green) groind to the neutral
if no part of the amp has 120 volt parts, such as fans.

Thats the way many are wired now on a thre wire outlet. have been for years.

my dryer and range are still three wire.
