NEED HELP! ANYONE know the Kenwood TS-130SE really well?

I just got a Kenwood TS-130SE off of eBay w/o pwr cords, pwr unit or mic.When I received it I opened it up to check for the standard mods and found on the AF-GEN unit (X49-1110-01) the following was removed!

D6, D7, D8, TC3, TC4, TC5, C27, C29, C31, C32, R27, R28, R29, R30, R31, R32, R113, L8, J2, and the (?) connectors between 14,21,28 (for the bands).

My questions are:

1) does anyone with a LOT more technical knowledge (about THIS unit) have any idea why these parts would be missing and what kind of modification might have been done (or attempted by removing these parts)?

2) with these parts missing, would the radio normally still be functional? rec &/or xmit

3) does anyone know a very good (and inexpensive) place for repair CLOSE to NW PA for this unit if it IS NOT functional?

Thanks to a member at QRZ.com on one of the forums I was able to get in touch with a fellow ham that is a certified Kenwood tech, and here is what he had to say:

"SE = Stripped edition.

Those are the parts for the "fixed channel" Section and don't affect normal operation of the radio.

Get a power cord and see what happens then drop me a line...

Hi Bill W3WDH,

Nice little H.F. Transceiver, I wish I had held out for 160 through 10 meter version, oh well I've got the TS-120 80 through 10 meter. These older transceivers have a slight problem of VFO Drift which can be annoying. Of course the design was introduced in 1979 so the radio is almost 30 years old.

When I read your post and the two previous replys, I wasn't sure if you received a PG-2G DC Power Cable. I went out to the internet and found one (1) and WOW! is it expensive. Brace yourself as it's now three (3) times the original cost, when I purchased the seme exact item in 1989. Keep your local area Paramedics close by! I believe you could build a DC cable for much less money. The 6-Pin connector is manufactured by MOLEX and can be probably purchased separately, the connector, pins and cable from Digi-Key dot Com for a 1/3 or less of the cost.
