Microphone Repair
My Icom HM-36 microphone has a short (no PTT) anyone know a reasonably priced repair shop that can fix this?
Here's a web site that shows the schematic. Figuring out why 2 wires are not working should be a breeze now: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= ... X%26um%3D1
for all who read and have simialr type problems.
Likley you do not have a 'short'
A short would always be in ptt mode.
A short would be a 'true ' condition .. aka always on..
and 'open' is a 'not true' condition or always off.
Commonly people that have an electrical problem seem to say " it must
be a "short" somewhere.
"shorts" usually blow fuses and cause smoke.
Most failures are an "open" which causes a circuit to not operate as planned.
except for blowing fuses or smoke, you normally troubleshoot l for "OPEN" Circuits..
Just a bit of education for all..

Since the english language is readable with out vowels,
and its readable if only the first and last letters are correct and the interior of the word is mixed up,
I don't spend much time making corrections to what i type.
Also with my left ring finger having the final joint stiff from partial amputation with a power saw, I type 5 fingered on the right hand and one finger on the left.
also a problem i have had on soft keyboards forever is my right home row ring finger tends to lean on the "ell" key too much so I get L in stead of space quite often.
Written language is about getting the thought accross and
this BB is not about mastery of english or typing. Its about electronic information.
