miss used words in placing ads.

Just what it says -- this is the place for any discussions not related to Buying, Selling and Trading ham gear. The discussion must be related to Ham Radio.

miss used words in placing ads.

Post by Gene Cexton »

THIS MESSAGE IS FOR ALL HAMS : It seems to me that the most abused words in placing our ads is:::: New Never Used, Never Been Mobile,or aquired from silent ky. Never Been Used, or Antenna Has never been outside(when the photo clearly shows blue sky) or a power supply that is several years old and the statement is made , only has less than 10 hours of use? who's kidding who here. WELL I THINK YOU GET THE PICTURE!!! LET's all strive to put some honesty back into our placing of ads. and be honest with one another. If we all put some thought into to our ads perhaps we all would have greater success in moving our equipment. From my prespective i believe most amateur operators are a honest group of people. 73

Gene i agree with what your saying and i go by the source as when i read ad's written that way such as bought from or selling for SK widow how do they know how much use the equipment really had since the SK is not around to verify it.But in the same thought i do know of people who basically are hoarders and buy things because the price was right and kept for that rainy day need but the rainy day never happened. So one just has to consider the source and there gut feeling.

You guys just do not understand the terminology so let's break it down.

1. Came from an estate.
It means it does not work so go the guys grave and yell at him.

2. I'm not a ham so I have no way of testing it.
Again it means it does not work. Probably bought it, abused it, broke it and now have to unload it.

3.I used it 5 years ago and it worked great but no longer needed.
It means I blew it up five years ago, have no idea how to fix it.....or it cost too much to fix. The only possible truth in this line is, "It worked 5 years ago."

4. Tech special. Came home last night and the rig won't turn on. Probably only a blown fuse inside of the rig that I can't find. Easy fix.

This means, there was a terrible electrical storm last night, the lightening hit the antenna five time and the coax was connected directly to the back of the rig. Once you open the rig you'll see a ball of melted plastic. But I am sure somewhere in there is a blown fuse.

5.Great 10 meter KW amp.
Do I really have to explain this one? Do the letters, "C B" mean anything?

I'm just having a litte fun. Not everybody is a crook but you do have to read closely and take the add with a grain of salt.

I purchased a lot of items from this web page and never got burnt.
