are there any special guidelines in shipping equipment to PR? this is my first internet sale & i want to do it right. Thanks

George:
USPS to Puerto Rico is good; there's continuity of service from the mainland.
But watch out for FedEx and UPS. Their rates for Puerto Rico and Hawaii are sky high. If you're using them, check before quoting shipping. I didn't and got burned in the old HTYS days.

They are a US territory so you can use USPS. Unless the item is small and light, priority flat rate will probably be your best bet.
