Tower Placement

Post by wb2rta »

I would like to fill in an in-ground pool and in the deep end, mount a new tower. My question is there any way that we can incorporate this into a fish pond/ antenna island? Bottom line is I want to install a new tower & the YL wants a larger Koi pond. I would like the tower to be a crank up free-standing and not have to worry about it falling over on the neighbors property, and the YL wants more room for her fish. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to how to accomplish this feat?

Tnx in advance & 73's

the usual rule of thumb for towers with concrete bases is they be
poured in a hole dug in undesturbed ground,, with out any forms..
any loose dirt around the concrete base will allow it to move/tilt the tower.
(a small form around at ground level to make nice straight sides near the grass is ok.
so it would seem unless you pour concrete the full width and length of the
pool. the concrete would not be against undesturbed ground.

in simple words , it wont work..

I was afraid that placing the tower in less than compacted soil might become an issue...an expensive issue at that. So much for that brilliant idea. Now I need to come up with Plan "B" or lose all thought of placing a new tower on the small lot that I call home.

Thanks for taking time to respond to my question.
