I was thinking about $2K also. Which would be an OK price except for a few things that bother me about recent radios.
1. They are not made in Japan anymore.
2. Some manufacturers have a shorter window of support.
3. Odd-ball connectors.
If they offered a two year warranty, I might go for a new import rig. For now, I will use my Kenwood TS-450 and Drake TR-7. But, if an OMNI VII came available locally, I would go for that. Had one before.

Never had the Omni 7 but did have a Orion 1 and i'm still kicking my self in the pants for letting it go. But so far my old trusty TS 930Sat, still will hang in there with most of the newer stuff. I just don't get that fired up over the radios anymore. Another thing about Yaesu is i've heard a lot of complaints over there warranty service.

Is there a picture of the new radio?

Miguel AD4Y to see a picture of it just click on the Fox Tango web site that W4CIM shows. And ED in this world of throw away electronics your probably right about 950 support if this new one does replace it. Of course it could replace the FT 2000 100 watt radio also.

Also the more i look at the picture of the radio i'm even more convinced it will replace the 950 as it still resembles it outside of the added visual changes such as the screen.
then click on yaesu and it should be there, I will upload it... I found it on one of the bloogs ...

Re: HRO shows $2799. for FTDX3000
Whao, $2, 799.95 basically $2,800 for the radio, I was told around $2,300 so the battle for the cheapest price will be begin when the radio hits the stores, but only the ham radio dealers that are willing to match the others will do business...K2HAT wrote:http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-011670
