KC2SQ hijacked

For reports of scammers using other people's callsigns. Remember that any callsigns listed in this forum are likely innocent bystanders (subjects of identity theft) and, thus, are probably not guilty of anything. For bad transactions with verified ham operators, use the Feedback Forum instead.

KC2SQ hijacked

I almost fell for this one. Mr. Richard Byrd of NY. is posing as KC2SQ. He is attempting to sell an IC-9100. The thing is, he will tell you he is Dave Grayson. He is not. Their phone numbers are in the same area code. When you go to make the deal you are told to do the ONE THING YOU SHOULD NEVER DO. WIRE MONEY INTO AN ACCOUNT. However, this guy is crafty but stupid. The name on the account will be his real name - Richard C. Byrd. He will tell you he manages a company and this is his account. It makes no sense. Don't get caught - and NEVER EVER wire money directly into an account.
