Heathkit HW-100

Post by ki4gmx »

I've got an unmodified Heathkit HW-100 with the original hand mic, Power Supply and manual. The rig is in GOOD condition. It has a few scratches on top of the cabinet, but none on the face. Also, it sounds pretty good. Using nothing more that a simple wire antenna, I can pick up several loud CW and SSB signals on 40 meters.

I would like to trade this rig for a multiband QRP rig. Maybe a HW-9 or an older Ten Tec. Would this be a good trade? If not, how much would this rig be worth?

HW100

The HW 100 and 101's were simply cheaper versions of the SB100 series transceivers, and were the #1 seller of Heathkit in the 60's and 70's.

Nowdays you might get $100, maybe a bit more if you have the matching HP23 power supply, and they're in clean, working condition.

Most of these had problems like cold solder joints, and value depends on who built them and who bought it the last time.

Good starter radio though, for someone on a very limited budget.
