For reports of scammers using other people's callsigns. Remember that any callsigns listed in this forum are likely innocent bystanders (subjects of identity theft) and, thus, are probably not guilty of anything. For bad transactions with verified ham operators, use the Feedback Forum instead.

K1RES scam

I'm grateful for the hams who posted warnings about K1RES, probably saved me a lot of grief. I was suspicious when his email name georgejones@gmail.com in no way reflected his call sign or name "Robert Spero" in California. His response came only minutes after I posted the ad and suspiciously did not request any further information, pictures, etc. on the unit. The check of his IP came up with a Texas location, not California. Other scam posts for him with similar checks shows his IP bopping around the US.
