Icom IC-375A 220 MHz Transceiver

I need some help with troubleshooting a problem with my Icom IC-375A radio. It receives well but has an annoying clicking sound from the speaker about every two seconds or so. The clicking sound moves the S meter slightly. This in no way seems to impact the solid operation of the radio (receives well as stated above) but it can be annoying and distracting. The transmitter is not affected. Anyone have any idea as to what could be the cause? I bought it new back in the 80.'s and it has not been modified or abused by any means. Thanks in advance for any help.
