Looking for suggestions from other users. When USPS loses your item, yet you have total documentation that it was shipped including tracking. should you refund the buyer immediately or wait for USPS to investigate and try to find the item?

The same thing happened to me. Check out tracking number 9400130109355036303964.
I refunded his money immediately - that's how I would want a seller to handle it if my item got lost.
However, I would say to respectfully work with the buyer to see how long he's willing to wait and go from there.

my problem with this is, if you refund immediately before a proper investigation and the item finally shows up the buyer has both the item and the money with no obligation to return either.
