Yaesu FT 897(D) power question

I was thinking of getting an FT 897 or 897D for portable use to replace my FT 817. My main interest is QRP but there are times I'd like to go up to about 25 or 50 watts portable. My main concern is the current drain from my battery for running QRP, 5 watts out. The FT 817 draws about 2 amps for 5 watts out on the HF bands. Anybody know what the 897 draws with only 5 watts out?
I was going to use an Icom IC706 for double duty but it draws 7 amps for 5 watts out. That's too high. The TS 480SAT is a great rig and draws about 5 amps at 5 watts out but the rig it too big to carry for portable. I pack light and don't want to carry too much equipment.
If I read the add correctly, I think it said you can install two internal battery packs. Is this correct?

They have the manual for free down load on the internet in PDF format but the radio on receive draws about 800ma squelched and about 1.5 amps on tx.Just a guess but check out the manual.
