Amateur Radio Station Licensing and equipment

I am trying to get a station started in ohio, usa and wanted to know pros cons of fm vs am and what equipment i would need to do such a thing. also i need to know what kind of licensing it would involve to broadcast local music.

First off, amateur radio is not for ":broadcasting" , its for Amateur to amateur conversation.
It is also illegal to transmit music on the amateur bands.
You need to go to
www.fcc.gov and either search "low power broadcasting" or just hunt around the site for low power license.
Also collect about $10,000 to get started..
There are what is known
as local community broadcast license.
And realize if you play just enough of a music record to be recognized, you have to pay royalities to the producer.
And from contests i have heard on the air, as little as 3 notes make a recording recognizable.
