I recently purchased a Flex 6500 for Tom, upon receiving it, I noticed the display was a bit splotchy...I emailed Tom and his advise was to turn the brightness all the way up, which I did, this made it brighter and harder to notice it issue and undetectable to a camera. I would also in seconds revert back to the dimmer setting. I advised Tom that I would send the rig to Flex for repairs and keep him posted. Flex contacted me yesterday with repairs made and a $500 invoice, which I paid. I notified Tom and sent him a copy of work performed...he wanted to then deny there was ever an issue with the rig as well question why Flex would fully test the rig when all in needed was a display. Well...if he knew it needed "just" a display, he knew there was an issue. Flex runs the full test/calibration on ALL rigs sent in for repair to insure there are no other issues. I posed the question to Tom..."Do you think I would have sent the rig in just to be sending it in?" Long story short...Tom/W2AAW refused ANY assistance. As I informed him, I would be sure to let others be aware of how this trans action went and how honor goes among the ham community. Be careful when purchasing from Tom as it may not be as described and if you have an issue, he has proven that he is not willing to help make it right.
