Scammer posing as KB9UMT

For reports of scammers using other people's callsigns. Remember that any callsigns listed in this forum are likely innocent bystanders (subjects of identity theft) and, thus, are probably not guilty of anything. For bad transactions with verified ham operators, use the Feedback Forum instead.

Scammer posing as KB9UMT

Post by firedawg »

Using email donaldlhobson@proton.me

Requested to purchase my 7300 listed using a cashiers check, not my norm but after I agreed he stated his "secretary" sent the wrong payment and I should keep what I'm owed and return the rest along with the radio. Everything screamed red flag so I double checked the QRZ account associated with the call. Name was right but email was not, I contacted the actual ham through his qrz supplied email and he confirmed it was definitely not him. I'm out no money or equipment and all info shared back and forth was shared with the actual ham who owns the callsign.
