I’m looking for a source to buy a commercial mobile antenna such as those found on police cars where a hole in the trunk lid *is* required. Just a small, simple, barely noticeable ¼ wave whip with no loading coils.
I realize it would never perform like my current antenna, but I want to go stealth – that is to get rid of my Amateur Radio license plate and tall center-loaded trunk mount.
Links/input welcomed…

Looking for Commercial Mobile Antenna Source
Motorola antenna with NMO mount is what I think you want.
Websearch should bring up something or check your local yellow pages for a commercial two-way shop or dealer that sells Motorola products.
Easily trimmed to run on the amateur bands.
Put it on the trunk of a big white Chevy Caprice and add a black spotlight to the driver's side doorpost. Run blackwalls. People will avoid you entirely and a lot of 'em will slow down as you pass 'em on the highway, too. (grin)

re: Looking for Commercial Mobile Antenna Source
You might look into a Comet B-10 NMO. That is what I use and I have people asking me if it is a cell phone antenna.
