I purchased the above old microphone (4 pin) off ebay recently and when I tried to use it with my Yaesu FT-101ZD, the sound ceased coming through my audio speaker on the Yeasu.

I unplugged the microphone and the sound resumed.

I plugged the microphone back in the Yeasu and the sound ceased again. I reach for the microphone to pick it up and depressed the talk key . . .and by pressing the key, it allowed the sound to once again come back through the Yeasu.

Is this the Twilight Zone or what? How can I correct this problem as I would love to begin using this stately old microphone.

Hi, you have crossed wires in the base of the mic.
double check circuit diagram on mic base plate and
besure the radio schematic matches.
careful if you arnt careful, you will cross also at the
mic plug. I would check there first.
