TUNERS-Internal AAT/External

Post by KF4UJA »

:?: Even though I understand the function of tuning, I would appreciate additional info on this issue. My TS-2000 has the AAT function feature. Also, I have a TEN-TEC 238 external tuner. Why would I need, or not need, both???? I am planning to have my G5RV, 204', 10-160 meters up very soon. Thanks,

ant tuner

The Kenwood TS2K internal antenna tuner will only tune 16.7 to 150 ohms. So it is only usable for making minor adjustments, moving from one part of band to another, using a resonant dipole.
Not sure if it will tune a G5RV or not. Probably on some bands it will.
A External antenna tuner will tune over a greater range, plus tune long wire, and balanced feed lines.
Been up highway 71 many times, used to talk to the Fraley's in Nickelsville all the time in the early 60's when I lived in St. Paul.
Good luck
