W7DTD Mike & Casey Schaff Bad Transaction

In November I responded to W7DTD's QTH.com ad pertaining to new tubes for sale. I sent payment and significant postage for what was to be a quantity of new tubes. What was sent were not new, and in fact, they weren't even the tube numbers I had ordered. W7DTD agreed to accept the return and make restitution. I promptly sent the tubes and W7DTD acknowledged receipt. However, after multiple e-mail and telephone exchanges I have never received a refund. At this point there are no longer any responses to my e-mails or calls.

Transaction Update

My transaction apparently was not with Mike Schaff W7DTD, but with his son Casey who had advertised with his father's callsign. Once Mike had learned the details of what had transpired, he stepped forward and offered to assist with obtaining a refund which I anticipate shortly. Therefore, I have no reason to discourage others from dealing DIRECTLY with Mike Schaff W7DTD. This experience underscores the importance of knowing that who you are dealing with are indeed who they are representing themselves as.

I'm happy to report a fortunate conclusion to this adventure. As previously reported, Mike Schaff stepped forward and offered his assistance in my obtaining a refund. Mike kept me informed of the the process via e-mail and once Casey was in a position to supply a refund, he did such. I received a refund for the purchase and unexpectantly, the original plus the return shipping expenses, and a few miscellaneous tubes as restitution.

Brian,
I have not dealt with Mike although I did have a VERY nice telephone conversation with him about a particular potential deal that did not materialize. I found him to be extremely pleasant, professional, and just plain nice.
I have never spoken to Casey but have exchanged several emails with him. I did make a small purchase via eBay a while back and it was smooth and easy.
I imagine that there was a bump in the road somewhere and am glad that Mike was able to fix it to your satisfaction. It sure leaves a better ... rather than bitter ... taste in your mouth.
