Procedure Needed

Post by genemckinney »

Not to be judgmental...but I see ads on QTH.COM where some ham will go on and on about something he has for sale...but he will not post a picture or tell you the price for the item...

When I see this I will be thinking this guy wants a King's Ransom for his gear...

Then too...if the guy has a digital camera...why not include a foto of the item...instead of saying "pictures on request"?

I still say you can tell allot about a person...just by the way he handles money...

Gene i believe this would have been better suited in the next category Classified ad's discussion. But you do make a good point...

Hello Larry...

Thanks for the note...

I have bought and sold allot of ham gear on QTH.COM...but I feel there are items posted ...that don't belong there like CB gear...

TIME SHARES...THE KITCHEN SINK...or anything else that doesn't have anything to do with HAM RADIO...

Theses guys that say LAST CHANCE BEFORE GOING TO E-BAY...should have gone to E-Bay to begin with...

Now...help me down off this soap-box...lol...

IMHO, pictures come second.

What's really needed is a COMPLETE description of the gear offered for sale, not just the usual "XYZ-268" with accessories.

No ham knows every make and model of ham gear plus what are the "original" accessories..

If I'm looking for a dual band HT, why should I have to go to the manufacturer's website or to boatanchors.com to figure out what somebody is selling?

Hams who don't describe the gear they're selling are on a par with eBay sellers who show you the closed box not the contents.

Thanks for the note Jerry...you have some good points to consider.
If I have a piece of ham gear for sale..I will have a picture of it and a full description. A money back guarantee is always included...
Anytime some ham rips off another ham...news will eventually get around...

Thanks again

The problem with pictures is that most the time much is not well shown such as dents or scratches. One of the best at taking pictures that did not show it's true condition was the famous Martyn better known on E Bay as Radio Mart.
