Was informed that 20 Amp is better suited for current models of radios

Lets see now. there are flea markets, ham fests ,retail stores, other hams, QRZ for sale lists,, e-ham for sale..

new 2meter radios are in the 160$ range.
used under 100.
make an antenna for under 3 bucks with some #12 solid electric wire and a SO239 connector.

My own opinion is to get a 12 amp supply and dedicate it to 2 meters forever.
have a seperate hi amp supply later on if you get on HF.

I just build mine. my 34 amp supply cost about $25 bucks.
Got the transformer at a flea market at a farm show no less.. $5..

keep your eyes open. stuff is in strange places.
watch garage sales and even those 'big stuff, garbage pick up days'
you some times find old tube type tvs that have been in someones garage.
grab all you can. . great source of parts and nuts bolts and screws.
wire, resistors caps. coils to harvest wire from.

I take it that you're KJ4OSV?

Are you asking if someone has this for sale, or inquiring as to what a recommended system would cost?

BTW, I've run 25 W rigs on a 12 A supply. My current shack rig, which is a 45 W Alinco dual-bander, works quite well on a 12 A supply (although I rarely run it at high power).
