I,am a bit confused regarding the claims some amplifier manufacturers make regarding the output of their amplifiers. Perhaps someone can set me straight. I have a Yaesu FL-2100B amp with a pair of 572Bs as the finals. With 100 watts RMS key down input, I,am seeing about 500 watts output with the wattmeter in the RMS mode. When I switch to SSB and place the wattmeter in the PEP mode, I,am still seeing about 500 watts or so peak. Yet, some people are saying this is actually 1000 watts PEP. Seems to me, provided my wattmeter is correct, that it is still only 500 watts output regardless if it is in PEP or RMS. Comments....
