Away from Ham Radio for 19 years

Post by anchor4 »

:D Hi I am new here, and returning to Ham Radio after an absence of 19 years
After looking through the used equipment Sales ,I am intending to make some purchases .
My question revolves around using PayPal ,is it correct to assume that in case of fraud that PayPal does cover the loss,?
Quite a few years ago I got stung and lost $80 US in Ebay,The seller had shown many stars for good past trading I sent a US MO and like many others was duped into a phony scam with no recompensation because I had sent the Money Order and not PayPay??
Also was wondering why one advertisement here ,requested no Pay Pal excepted? is this because of perhaps a surcharge for seller.??
Was really more than surprised to learn even scams happening here ,because using callsigns one would never imagine ways around like taking others callsigns etc.
I have looked up my present Callsign VK2CRI ,now held for 3 years its not listed ,only my previous call VK2GQQ ex ZL2AGE John VK2CRI

PayPal "insurance" converage is limited. There is some protection but it is not all-inclusive. The fees are why many choose to not accept it on this site. Internationally, it may be a safer approach than some others. Welcome back!

Pay Pal got my $800.00 dollars back from a fraudulent seller . I know of others that have posted on getting there money back when scammed or product was not as advertised. But there are others who claim pay pal refused to get there money back. I of course do not know the rest of the story like paul harvey used to say on those who failed to get there money back only there version. In case some one tells you it is only E Bay that they protect buyers my $800.00 was from buying on this site as i've only been taken once on E bay and that was for $15.00. Pay Pal can be expensive at around 3.4% on most deals. But i like it because if for no other reason you have proof you paid and the payment is almost instant..By the way the scammer on my deal was in Australia..
